Characteristics of Vata
Vata is characterized by air, dryness and movement. Vata individuals have slender figures, sometimes with their bones protruding at the joints.Quick moving they exhaust rapidly and can have a hard time concentrating or focusing on the things they need to accomplish.
Vata can be prone to depression, especially if they become stagnant, therefore, it is vital for them to keep active. However, activity for these individuals must be engaged in a focused and calm manner, or the activities will lead to anxiety. Focused, constructive actions can lift thier spirits and spark the creative fire that is so important to their well being.
Many vata people bite their nails, cracks thier knuckles, and they will sometimes move their hands and feet about in a nervous or quick manner. Their very nature demands this movement!! All of these tendencies driven by anxiety and nervous energy is so counterproductive for vata that they lose precious vital energy with all of this unfocused movement. They have a passion for learning but sitting for long periods of time can be difficult. The vata person unable to sit still will notice that projects can fall short or be left incompleted due to this lack of attention span.Another characteristic of Vata is their inability to get a good nights rest.
